The Sprenzel family announces with sadness the passing of Matthew W. (“Bud”) Sprenzel on Friday, February 5, 2016 at age 87 in Clearwater Beach, Fla.
Bud and his wife, Shirley, who passed away in June 2013, founded Installation Specialists, Inc. in 1973. Capitalizing on ISI’s earliest technical and project management capabilities, Bud rapidly molded the company into the Chicago area’s first full-service office furniture installation company.
His founding vision for ISI continues to guide the company’s leadership today: longstanding client and supplier relationships built on mutual trust and loyalty, a culture in which the client’s success is always the top priority, and a quality work environment where qualified people can build rewarding careers while enjoying the best of a family atmosphere.
Bud’s vision and spirit were guiding lights for generations of ISI employees over the years. “In a word, Bud was the heart of ISI,” noted Karen Power, a 20-year member of the ISI staff. The passionate attention Bud gave to the well-being of his family naturally extended to the members of the ISI Team.
Bud served in the Illinois National Guard. He and Shirley were founding members of St. Emily Catholic Church, where Bud served on several committees and was a close personal friend of the Founding Pastor, Father McLoraine. Bud was also active with the Knights of Columbus.
Shirley and Bud were partners in life and in business and he truly adored her. They were married for nearly 60 years. Surviving Bud are the couple’s four children, Matthew M., John S. (Katherine), Glenn J. and Theresa M. (Tim) DeLord; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one surviving sister, Catherine “Babe” (John) Dahl. He will be mourned by a host of others as well, including special nieces and nephews, other family members, friends and fellow parishioners at St. Emily Catholic Church.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 10, 3–9 PM at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mount Prospect. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 AM from the funeral home to St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mount Prospect, where a mass will be held starting at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (“Ways to Give”) will be appreciated.
